We recommend that you place the fire blanket in the kitchen, close to the stove or fireplace, where fires often start and the risk of fire is therefore greater. Other places could be, for example, by the sofa in the living room, or in the bedroom where you light candles. It is recommended that the fire blanket is close and accessible.

It is also advisable to have a fire blanket in, for example, the car, boat, summer/mountain cabin such as the caravan and garage.

How do I put out a fire with a fire blanket?
When you use the fire blanket correctly, it smothers the fire. It is important to remember not to throw the blanket on the fire. Instead, place it firmly over the fire and press with your hands on top of the blanket to smother the fire. Do not knock on the blanket as this will allow more air to enter.
Continue until you are absolutely sure the fire is out. Leave the blanket over the burnt object for 20 minutes.
What is recommended to do if someone's clothes start to catch fire?
If someone's clothes start to catch fire, try to get the person to lie down so that the fire is smothered on the ground. Put on the fire blanket, starting at the top of the head. Make sure the blanket is tight, pat or press lightly with your hands on top of the blanket. Always lift the blanket from the bottom up, so that the fire does not flare up in the person's face.
